Violet Savoie has a plan. A dream, rather: to open her own tattoo shop, catering to supernaturals and specializing in permanent charms. As a powerful Seer, she has the potent magic needed to cast every kind of spell . . . except the kind her friend and business partner, Nico, needs in the worst way. Even Violet canā€™t help this werewolf control his beastly side.

Ever since their first (and only) sizzling encounter on New Yearā€™s Eve two years earlier, Nico Cruz has been dying to get his handsā€”and his tongueā€”back on Violet's body. He knows a firecracker like Violet canā€™t be courted in the usual way. And Nico has no scruples about misbehaving to get what he wants.

But when his former pack roams into town, Nicoā€™s focus shifts to the threat venturing into his territory. The intruders are about to regret setting foot in New Orleans. And when Violet goes missing, no charm or spell can keep Nicoā€™s wolf at bay . . .

Casket CaseĀ is one part exploration of grief, two parts romantic comedy, a dash of self-discovery, and a heavy helping of magical realism. Its unique and intriguing premise captures your attention, but its execution falls short, preventing it from being a higher rated read. Despite its flaws, it has a certain charm that keeps you invested in the story and curious about what comes next. After her parents’ death, Nora reluctantly returns to her teeny tiny hometown of Rabbittown, Alabama, to run Rabbittown Casket Company, her familyā€™s casket business. It’s not an easy or glamorous job, but somebodyā€™s got […]

All of Ali Hazelwoodā€™s books follow pretty much the same formula. A smart, sassy, accomplished woman with some much-deserved baggage is forced to spend time with an equally smart, slightly grumpy, golden retriever of a man with baggage of his own. They are both, naturally, very easy on the eyes. Mix together a hefty helping of witty banter, some complicated feelings, a dash of angsty longing, and lots of sexual tension until you get a couple that finally realizes they are in love. Sexy time ensues. Introduce a small conflict or misunderstanding, have a brief yet terrible third-act […]

This was my first read by Tricia, and it definitely wonā€™t be my last. The story was cute & well-written. MMC, West, was smart, nerdy, sweet & 100% swoon-worthy. FMC, Maisie, was quirky, strong-willed, relatable & adorably grumpy. The addition of magic & Scottish folklore was chefā€™s kiss, but Iā€™m just not a huge fan of insta-love. Which is why I only gave this 3 stars. I need a little more will they/wonā€™t they to tick all my boxes. Iā€™d say this is a solid 3.5-star read. Well worth the time, just not my favorite trope.
