Overcoming it all to hit the perfect note.

All of Jackson Phillipsā€™ dreams are coming true. His band is finally getting the recognition it deserves, heā€™s spending the summer with his best friend, and he canā€™t get enough of his gorgeous girlfriend.

But everything is about to change when American Thieves goes on tour.

Margot Reid may be excited about her classes and her new job at a local magazine, but she dreads Jackson leaving. Sheā€™s gotten used to waking up to him in her bed, and now heā€™ll be in a new city every night, surrounded by adoring fans.

With equally hectic schedules and the growing distance between them, Jackson and Margot navigate juggling their aspirations while still holding onto the one thing that makes them happier than anything else, each other.

As they learn to balance following their dreams and true love, the two are faced with an undeniable question. If forced to make a choice, would they choose each other?

This book wasĀ TOO. GOOD. Now, Iā€™m sure youā€™re wondering, ā€˜Hilarye, is that even possible?ā€™ Oh yes, my friend, it is. This book is meeting your soulmate and feeling seen for the first time good. Itā€™s slipping into a pair of jeans that makes your ass look fantastic and taking a sip of a perfectly made iced coffee good. Itā€™s drinking wine, eating cheese, and laughing until you cry with your best friend good. And itā€™s evenĀ (wait for it)Ā snuggling a pile of kittens good. Yup, kittensā€”this book isĀ THATĀ good.Ā  The story begins with Patrick and Johanna, childhood best friends who […]

This review was tough to write. I didn’t hate Mistakes We Never Made, but I can’t say I enjoyed it either. It was just thoroughlyā€¦meh. On paper, this rom-com had all the ingredients of a story I would normally love. A forced proximity road trip, high school friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, and a second chance romance. There were flashes of brilliance here and there, but when all was said and done, the story fell flat. The worst part was the endingā€”more on that later. The story centers on Emma and Finn, high school friends and debate partners whose relationship slowly blossomed […]

Casket CaseĀ is one part exploration of grief, two parts romantic comedy, a dash of self-discovery, and a heavy helping of magical realism. Its unique and intriguing premise captures your attention, but its execution falls short, preventing it from being a higher rated read. Despite its flaws, it has a certain charm that keeps you invested in the story and curious about what comes next. After her parents’ death, Nora reluctantly returns to her teeny tiny hometown of Rabbittown, Alabama, to run Rabbittown Casket Company, her familyā€™s casket business. It’s not an easy or glamorous job, but somebodyā€™s got […]

Overall, this was a fantastic little love story. Kat and James were adorable together, and although I typically dislike a third-act breakup, the writing of this one was superb. It’s not a breakup as much as a “we need to work on ourselves independently before this relationship can work” situation. It’s much better than miscommunication or, even worse, not communicating at all. Kat and James approached challenges maturely and made relationship choices that set a solid foundation for the future. It was a breath of fresh air to read a romance novel featuring a “healthy” couple, as opposed […]
